Cabrini High School Parents’ Association

2012-2013 Calendar and Important Information

The Cabrini High School Parents’ Association welcomes all parents and guardians to help provide a wonderful experience for your Cabrini student.  Our brief, informative meetings and activities provide chances to win money and have a good time with the other parents of Cabrini young ladies.  The Parents’ Association has many varied opportunities for you to help your daughter.

Come join the fun and fellowship of the Parents’ Association in some of the following activities:

August

First Meeting is Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. – The first meeting will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Cabrini gym in conjunction with and just before the school’s Mini-Schedule.  Our meetings are very informal and you'll get to meet some great new people in the process.  As always, there will be door-prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and food and drinks will be served.  PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY to obtain your door prize ticket and food.

September

Town Hall Meeting on September 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. —The Town Hall meeting this year will focus our attention on alcohol and under-age drinking.  You and your daughters are STRONGLY encouraged to attend this informative meeting with our guest speakers, Judge Fredericka Homberg Wicker and Christophe Hanemann.  Judge Wicker is a Judge of the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals who will explain the legal issues involved with serving alcohol to underage students.  Christophe Hanemann will give a sobering talk about the life long effects of drinking and driving.

October

Our meeting in October will take place after the Parent-Teacher Conference on October 24, 2012.  A “tailgate style” meeting is planned with a hoped-for appearance from a “Saintly” figure.

November

Our first annual Parents “pre-holiday” Social is planned for 7:00 p.m. on November 14, 2012.  Come out and enjoy the holiday spirit with other Cabrini Parents.

Mother/Daughter Mass, Luncheon, and Fashion Show is scheduled for November 18. Parents assist in preparation for this event by serving on a host of committees, like the auction, room set-up, style show, reservations, and welcoming committees.

Our first meeting of 2013 is Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.  A guest speaker will inform us about a topical subject.

February

Time for the Cabrini Night of Green and Gold (formerly known as “The Gala”), an evening of cocktails, great food from some of the city’s finest restaurants, dancing, wonderful auction items, and live entertainment to benefit Cabrini High School.  Parents can assist in many ways through committees, including invitations, mailings, restaurants, set-up, and more.

March

The Bayou Bash is Cabrini’s one day school fair, which is organized and run by the Parents’ Association; and so parents are critical to insuring the success of the fair.  Multiple committees assist in running the Bayou Bash, including Food, Games, Booths, Cheerleading Competition, and Queen of Bayou Bash contest.  The last preparation meeting for the Bash will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.

The Bayou Bash will be held on March 24, 2013– Come out with your daughter and enjoy this fun-filled day.  Bid on an auction item, listen to the music, play great games, and enjoy great food.

Last Meeting on Wednesday, April 25, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. – Our last meeting of the year occurs in April when we elect new members to the Parents’ Association Board to lead the fun for the next scheduled year.

After enjoying our Volunteers’ Party Crawfish Boil, we close this school year by helping at Senior Graduation.

Throughout the Year: Parents help in a variety of ways, including as members of some of the following committees:

Auction Committee: Using donor and prospective donor lists provided by Cabrini, parents solicit items for the auctions held at various functions held throughout the year.

Refreshments/Hospitality: Serve refreshments at various activities held during the year.

Birthday Celebration with the Principal: Parents/Guardians are encouraged to join in our one-hour monthly fun celebration of student and faculty birthdays, during school hours.

Membership Committee: Assist in encouraging parents to join you at our association activities and serve as official welcomers for all general meetings.

The Parents’ Association is vital to the success of Cabrini, and our daughters need and DESERVE our support.  Plan on joining us for another great year!
