Spend the Day at Cabrini

Yvonne Hrappman, Cabrini High PrincipalDear Cabrini Alumnae, Parents, and Friends,

Cabrini High School has an excellent educational program taught by a talented and dedicated faculty.  We are committed to providing each student with an education in which essential information and skills are learned, knowledge is explored, and ideas are critically analyzed and evaluated.

High school years are a special time in an adolescent female’s life—a time of academic and personal challenge, and a time to make important decisions about present and future plans.  Today’s high school experience is filled with more pressure, more competition, and higher expectations than ever before. We empathize with this and at the same time do not lower our expectations.  Rather, we double our efforts to support and nurture those in need.  It is through stretching the hearts and minds of our young women that we see them grow immensely.

Just as there are greater expectations academically, there are also greater temptations and challenges morally for our girls.  Today’s world with 24/7 access to information and “reality TV” provides an inside look into and glamorizes many different lifestyles.  Thus, it is equally as important that we help them grow stronger as moral, Christian women.

As a Catholic school, it is our prime responsibility to create a strong academic environment integrated with a unique Christian climate.  We teach our girls the importance of faith in the context of our community by the liturgies we plan, in individual behavior we model, and in relationships that provide daily witness.  We worship together through community in many ways, including Masses, communion services, Eucharistic adoration, retreats, and school-wide and class prayers. We emphasize the call to service to the Church and the world.  As a Cabrinian school, it is our responsibility to ensure the legacy of St. Frances X. Cabrini by “recognizing the signs of our time” and serving those having the greatest needs. We build community through the many academic, social, spiritual, and extra-curricular activities provided for our students, many of which include our parents.  Our coming together to build a strong Christian community provides the moral support our young women also need.

A successful and rewarding high school experience requires the collaboration of all of us – school, parents, and students, as well as the support of alumnae and friends.  By working together we can make sure that Cabrini High School remains an academic and spiritual leader, and a first choice of the Catholic, college prep secondary schools in the New Orleans metropolitan area.

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
~ Philippians 4:6-7
