ACADEMIC (MERIT) SCHOLARSHIPS

  • These scholarships ($1,000 each) are available to any incoming 8th grade student, or new or returning 9th grade student.
  • A/B work at elementary school
  • Acceptable conduct record/regular attendance
  • Applicants must take the placement test at Cabrini on Application Day and score in the 90th percentile on the placement test.
  • Maintain a 3.5 academic average
  • Partial and non-renewable
  • Scholarship awards are automatic for those who qualify.


FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (WORK STUDY)*

  • Need based - Awarded to students who would not have the opportunity to attend Cabrini High School due to financial constraints.
  • Students receiving financial assistance must complete a specified number of work study hours performed during preset times throughout the school year.
  • Amount depends upon available funds and the number of qualified applicants
  • Assistance recipients are selected by Cabrini High School’s Finance Committee


CABRINI HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

Alumnae Association (Legacy) Scholarship

  • Awarded to a current or incoming student.
  • Scholarship applications are announced and made available through the Alumnae Office.
  • Applications are always due by April 1st. The scholarship becomes available and the winner is selected in the 2nd semester of the school year, and announced at the 1st Renaissance Assembly of the 1st semester of the following year. Note to incoming students who wish to apply...contact the Alumnae Office and provide your email to make sure you receive notifications. You may also look for the post on this website.
  • Eligible students include daughters, granddaughters, and sisters of Cabrini High School alumnae.
  • A minimum of one student per year, one-time award of $1,000
  • If there is no eligible legacy student for a particular year, the scholarship will not be awarded.
  • If a student has applied or won the scholarship in past years, she is still eligible to apply again.
  • The scholarship winner is selected by the Alumnae Association Board Scholarship Committee
  • The award is based on:
    O Completion of an application form
    O Letters of reference (personal, church/community, and school)
    O Submission of an original essay.
    O Personal interview by the Alumnae Association Board Scholarship Committee


Parents’ Association Scholarship

  • Each year the Parents’ Association presents a $500 cash scholarship award and commemorative plaque to a graduating senior who has met the following criteria throughout her years at Cabrini High School:
    O Has maintained a 2.5 GPA or better
    O Has consistently exhibited a loyalty and commitment to the spirit of Cabrini High School by active participation both within and outside of the classroom.
    O Whose parent(s) has actively supported the school, be it through volunteerism, participation in annual fund, recruitment, etc.
  • The winner of this scholarship is selected by a simple majority vote (written) by current Cabrini High School faculty.


Vanessa Lauren Wolff Scholarship

  • The Class of 2001 awardsthis $500 scholarship annually during Cabrini’s SADA (Students Against Drugs and Alcohol) Red Ribbon Week in October.
  • Applications are announced and made available via the Development Office in September and awarded in October each year.
  • Any current student of Cabrini High School in good standing is eligible for this award.
  • The scholarship will be awarded based on an essay contest about drunk driving and a personal interview with the VLW Scholarship organizers.
  • The award is to be used for tuition.
  • The scholarship amount may vary depending upon availability of funds.
  • The winner of this scholarship is selected by the VLW Scholarship organizers.


Cocchiara Scholarship*

  • This scholarship is awarded every 4 years and is available to current Cabrini High School students through the Cocchiara Foundation Scholarship program. This is a 4-year award of full tuition.
  • Several nominees are selected by Cabrini High School’s Scholarship Committee and the scholarship winner is chosen by the Cocchiara Foundation.
  • Funds permitting, one student will receive the award based on
    ◊Successful completion of pre-freshman year at Cabrini High School
    ◊Completion of an application form
    ◊Submission of an original typewritten essay of 350-500 words inspired by the life of John, Catherine, or Lucy Cocchiara.
  • The scholarship is renewable subject to the following:
    ◊3.0 GPA or higher at Cabrini
    ◊Participation in at least one co-curricular activity at Cabrini
    ◊Good behavior and attendance records.


Patrick F. Taylor Scholarship
at Cabrini High School*

  • These scholarships are available to Cabrini High School sophomores through the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation Student Scholarships Program.
  • Each is a $2,000 need-based scholarship.
  • There are a total of 4 scholarships per year. The number of scholarships awarded to sophomores each year is determined by the number of seniors who received the award the previous year who graduated leaving available openings, and funds permitting. Only returning sophomores may apply. The award is based on:
    ◊Maintain a 2.5 GPA or better per semester
    ◊Completion of an application form
    ◊Submission of an original typewritten essay.
  • The scholarship continues through the students’ senior years as long as their eligibility is maintained.
  • Several nominees are selected by Cabrini High School’s Scholarship Committee and the scholarship winners are chosen by the Taylor Foundation.


NOHH (New Orleans Hispanic Heritage) Foundation Scholarship*

  • These scholarships are available to Cabrini High School freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors through the NO Hispanic Heritage Foundation Scholarship Program.
  • Applications are announced and made available through the Development Office.
  • Funding permitting, the awards are typically $1,000 each.
  • Scholarships are based on:
    ◊Hispanic ancestry
    ◊3.0 GPA or better
    ◊Financial need of the family
    ◊Student application form (completed by the student)
    ◊Parent application form (completed by the parent)
    ◊Parent consent form (completed by the parent)
  • Every student matching the foundation’s requirements are nominated by Cabrini High School’s Scholarship Committee and the scholarship winners are chosen by the NOHH Foundation.


The Cefalutana Society's Salvadore J. Serio Presidential Scholarship

  • This $1,000 scholarship is available through the generosity of The Cefalutana Society in honor of their long-term, former president, Salvadore J. Serio.
  • The funds for the scholarship are awarded in the Spring to one current Cabrini junior to be used for tuition and/or fees for her senior year
  • Open to all current Cabrini High School juniors in good standing, the The Cefalutana Society's Salvadore J. Serio Presidential Scholarship is awarded based on an essay contest


Holly Elizabeth Theode ‘99 Memorial Valedictorian Scholarship

  • This $1,000 scholarship is available through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Thoede, Jr. in loving memory of their daughter, Holly, who was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1999.
  • The funds for this scholarship are awarded at the Senior Luncheon to the valedictorian of Cabrini High School’s graduating class.

In order to be considered for any scholarship a student must be accepted to Cabrini High School and a tuition deposit must be paid in full. No application can be considered before formal acceptance.

For all scholarships, grades are based on the most recent official transcripts.

* To apply for the need-based scholarships, after acceptance to Cabrini, the student’s parents or guardian must send a written request to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to receive the Financial Assistance Application packet from Cabrini’s Finance Office. This is a 2-form process. One application must be completed by the parents or guardian and returned to the Finance Office by a date determined by the Finance Office. The other application must be completed by the parents/guardian and filed with the tuition evaluation service by the date set by the Finance Office. The application is not complete until these 2 steps are completed. Until then no need-based scholarship will be considered.
