Spirituality is a living thing at Cabrini. The young ladies of Cabrini High School are blessed to be able to walk on the same holy ground where St. Frances Xavier Cabrini lived and worked and to worship in the same chapel where she knelt and prayed for guidance and strength. Faculty and staff work to educate young women by encouraging them to live the Gospel in actions that flow from values found in the life and teachings of Jesus, to respond with compassion, to appreciate diversity, and to serve with excellence. To instill the reality that spirituality is not just an “adult thing,” a different student each morning leads the entire community in prayer while prayer at the beginning of each class may be led by a student or faculty member. Lunch-time prayer and Cabrini’s original end-of-the-day prayer all help to incorporate meaningful attitudes into a student’s daily routine.
Mass is celebrated monthly for the entire student body while Communion Services, Prayer Services, and the Rosary are regularly conducted in the Sacred Heart Chapel. School-wide liturgical services in Advent and Holy Week, the Living Rosary, May Crowning, senior overnight retreat, junior, sophomore, freshman, pre-freshman retreats, Senior Ring Mass, and Baccalaureate Mass are all part of a Cabrini’s spiritual life. Student Eucharistic ministers, Student Altar servers, Student Retreat teams to plan and execute grade level retreats, a Student Campus Ministry team working with the Campus Chaplain and Faculty Campus Ministry Team to plan all aspects of liturgies, a vibrant community service program, the Sacred Heart Chapel available for students, and Saint Frances Cabrini’s shrine available at all times for the students are all part of the Cabrini charism to teach the students to live and participate in their faith. Additionally, each student is required to complete 100 hours of volunteer community service prior to graduation. On average, Cabrini students give more than 35,000 hours of community service a year.
