The 2019-2020 Cabrini Cheerleaders proudly represented Cabrini High School with their outstanding talent, spirit and leadership while recently attending an action packed UCA Camp at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond from July 8 to July 11. During the four day camp the Crescents learned multiple cheers, chants, dances, and new skills which they will use to motivate and entertain the student body during the upcoming school year.
On the final day of camp the team performed in the Rally Routine Championship and Game Day Championship in which they were awarded overall Game Day Champion, 1 st place for their Cheer, and 2nd place for their Rally Routine in the Varsity Division. The Cabrini Cheerleaders were also awarded the prestigious UCA Traditions Award. The Traditions Award is voted on by the UCA staff and is given to a team that they feel truly exemplifies what it means to be a cheerleader and shows leadership, school pride and spirit at all times during camp. They also received UCA’s coveted “Top Banana” Award on the first day of camp. Several of the team members received individual awards during their time at camp. Taylor Albers, Mia Cantrell, Shayla Green, Alexis Hassy, Jaimyn Johnson, Kirsten Knobloch, Cate Tallant, and Tia Thibodeaux participated in the All American tryouts and were named UCA All American cheerleaders. Seniors Shayla Green, Alexis Hassy, Jaimyn Johnson, Kirsten Knobloch and Cate Tallant received an invitation to tryout for the UCA staff following their senior year. Annabella Bascle was awarded a ribbon for being one of the four finalists in the camp jump-off. Kirsten Knobloch, Taylor Albers and Mia Cantrell were chosen by the staff and members of the other teams to receive the UCA Pin-It Forward Award for demonstrating one of the reasons why America needs cheerleaders.
