Sydney Loupe, a recent Louisiana State University softball player, has been named head coach of the Cabrini High School softball team for the 2018-2019 school year.
“I feel honored to be joining a staff that cares so greatly about their students,” said Loupe upon the announcement. “I am honored that they’ve entrusted me to help continue to instill Cabrini’s core values of respect, excellence, and service in their students.”
Throughout high school, Loupe was a four-year letter winner of the Pope John Paul II High School softball team. She accrued a 51-32-1 record during her prep career and won the co-district championship in 2013 and 2014. She was a three-time first team all-district athlete in 2012, 2013, and 2014, while earning all-metro and all-state first team honors as the catcher in 2014. Loupe was awarded the team’s offensive most valuable player during her junior and seniors years, as well as being named to the Clarion Herald Elite Softball team before graduating in 2014.
During her collegiate athletic career, Loupe made her first appearance in an LSU uniform during her freshman season, as well as one appearance during her sophomore season. During her junior season, Loupe played in nine games for the Tigers and scored three runs, including a run in the three game victory over UL-Lafayette that helped propel LSU into the Tallahassee Super Regional. Loupe is studying Sports Administration and will graduate from LSU in December 2018
According to Loupe, “I’m looking forward to working with student-athletes who have the drive to be great on and off the field, in school, softball and life.”
Regarding the announcement, Cabrini’s Athletic Director Kirk Maronge said, “We are excited to welcome Sydney Loupe into the Cabrini family as the new head softball coach. Sydney had the fortunate opportunity to play for one of the top college softball programs in the country and was coached by some of the elite coaches in the country at LSU. Sydney will bring her experience of playing for LSU in the Women’s College World Series, her exceptional knowledge of softball, her character, her energy, and her enthusiasm to the Cabrini Softball program.”
