The Advanced Placement (AP) program has been a successful part of Cabrini’s academic curriculum for many decades, and provides our students an opportunity to have exposure to the rigor of college coursework within the high school setting. AP courses give students access to standardized, high-level course material, but with the supports of our dedicated highly trained Cabrini AP teachers.
A big part of the success of taking an AP class lies in the preparation for the end of course exam in May. Learning how to organize and manage the course material and study for a cumulative high-stakes exam is a valuable component in the Advance Placement curriculum. The experience of going through this experience teaches the preparation and study skills your daughter will need in college, where many courses only have a midterm and final exam. Cabrini requires our students to take the exam for each of their AP courses in May. The exams are provided by the College Board, as well as a community of educators from around the country, allowing students to compare their skills and preparation nationally.Cabrini offers 12 AP courses

Cabrini has an Open Admission Policy
AP courses are open to all college bound students, not just to honors students. The College AP Board awards high schools an Equity and Excellence score based on the success of their AP program. In 2024, Cabrini’s Equity and Excellence Percentage was 32% compared with 22.4% nationally and 8% for Louisiana. At Cabrini, we believe in preparing all students for the educational rigor of college level material. Participation in our AP courses provides them with expanded opportunities to intellectually and emotionally meet this challenge.

You will find during the college application process that colleges are focused on retention of students and look for students who have elected to take an AP class, the most rigorous course of study in a subject area. Cabrini is very proud of our Equity and Excellence rating from the College Board that measures the percentage of students who have earned a 3 or higher on an AP exam within the overall student population eligible to take AP classes. We strongly believe that all Cabrini students should take at least one AP class in their high school career, and counselors encourage students to participate in a class that will benefit their college preparation.
Cabrini's 2024 score was 32%, 24% higher than the average Louisiana High School and 9.6% higher then national average. In the 2023-2024 school year, 45% of the student body earned college credit.
