Dear Cabrini Community,
As our seniors begin an exciting new journey to live out the ideals, values, and principles that have been instilled as a Cabrini Crescent, it is important to herald the achievements of our students and faculty and staff and to reflect on the successes of the school year.
The academic achievements of the Class of 2019 capture the essence and value of a Cabrini education. The Crescent Class of 2019 earned more than $11.1 million dollars in grants and scholarships -- an average of $152,537 per student. These accomplished young women were accepted to 96 colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
We are also proud to have a student in the Class of 2020 who met the requirements to enter the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. She is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who will be recognized in the Fall.
Outside the classroom, Cabrini students participated in the Patrick F. Taylor foundation’s 18 in '18 arts competition which showcased the creative talents of high school students and their special connection to the culture of New Orleans. Judges reviewed original essays, graphic arts, poems and videos submitted by 47 students representing 21 high schools in Orleans Parish. Two Crescents placed among the top five and received individual cash awards as well as donations to Cabrini totaling $24,000. A third student was named a finalist for her original essay. Cabrini High School was the only school represented with a finalist in each category of the competition.
The “Continuing Her Legacy” campaign is still underway to raise capital funds that will help us advance Cabrini’s academic, fine arts, theater, and athletic programs and invest in the renovation, expansion, improvement, and maintenance of Cabrini facilities such as the gymnasium and auditorium, a commons area, fine arts theater, and cafeteria. This campaign will help us transform our facilities to meet the needs of students and the entire Cabrini community.
These highlights represent only a small sample of the many exciting achievements during the 2018-19 school year. These and many more successes will inspire us to reach new heights as we continue our mission to educate the hearts and minds of young women in the Catholic Cabrinian tradition.
With each year, my appreciation and understanding grows deeper of our students' shared sisterhood and connection to school, community, faith, and each other. Thank you for your entrusting us to continue the Cabrini legacy of educating the minds and hearts of your special young women.
Mother Cabrini, Pray for Us,
