It all started when Cheryl Dicharry D'Antonio '71, who owns a small alteration business in her house, started making medical face masks at home. Her son in Wisconsin posted a picture of her making the masks on Facebook and several of her friends, including her Cabrini classmates Barbara Darce Adams '71 and Debbie Charouleaus Schmidt '71, were inspired to start making masks at home, too.
Beginning on March 19, 2020, Cheryl has made over 200 masks and is going strong! Cheryl said, "The medical community needs our help, and it was something constructive I felt I could do while at home. It makes me feel good to give back to the community."
It only takes Barbara 10 to 15 minutes to make each mask from start to finish, which is a small amount of time to make a big impact. According to Barbara, “It gives me great joy knowing I can help in this way by providing supplies to those who are putting their lives on the line during this terrible time. We are all called to be the hands and feet of Jesus.”
All masks are being donated to the medical community in the metro New Orleans area.
