Christie Runnels’17 has signed with the University of Memphis to play softball for that school.
Christie Runnels plays Third Base for Cabrini and has amassed numerous honors. As a Senior, she is a 2017 Academic All-State Softball Player and was selected to the 2017 LHSCA All-Star Team Roster as a member of the All-Star East squad. As a Junior, she was selected to 2016 Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s (LHSAA) All-State Softball Team.
Joining her at her signing in Alumnae Hall were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Runnels, Jesse Barksdale, one of her former coaches from the New Orleans Voodoo Fast Pitch Softball program, Lance Chetta, Cabrini’s Head Softball Coach, Caitlyn Battistella, Assistant Softball Coach, and Todd Corwin, Assistant Softball Coach. Also on hand were Cabrini President Jack Truxillo, Kirk Maronge, Cabrini Athletic Director, and former Cabrini Softball Coach Shannon Austin’94 along with numerous classmates and friends.
