Sophomores Tatumn Kirkwood, Camille May and Adrianna Pazos, Junior Dakota Charity and Cabrini High School's No Place for Hate Club moderator Nadine Saunders recently participated in the 16th annual Unity Through Understanding Day at Loyola Law School. Sponsored by the South Central Region of ADL (the Anti-Defamation League), the interactive workshop brings together students from the area to work together to gain a better understanding of the importance of acceptance and promoting diversity within their school communities by combating prejudice, promoting diversity and taking a stand against bullying. A faculty training tract was offered simultaneously.
The morning keynote speaker was William Snowden, founder of the Juror Project and director of the Vera Institute of Justice, and the afternoon closed with a first-hand account of the atrocities suffered as a child by Holocaust survivor Anne Levy, who warned the youths of the dangers of the recent increase in hate speech.
